Same Room, Two Changes...

If you are like me, nothing stays in the same place for very long. I am constantly moving things around until I feel like they work together, here are some examples of the spare room at 'Hotel Robb' that I changed for a more Industrial look. The philosophy behind an eclectic style, is as simple as this: to combine elements or particular styles from different time periods and different origins within a single project. However, it takes a unique eye to ensure that mixing together that many features of such a variety of styles doesn't feel chaotic. Our eclectic style is a rather harmony-like style, where different pieces of furniture, for example, have their unique place. Also, all the elements are in a thoughtful connection with the other parts of the room. Inspired by the Tribal African Bamileke Feather Headdress featured in the above pictures, this room epitomises a mix of soft luxurious linens from India, with African artefacts. It is important to combine the old with the new, always remembering that less is more.

A few simple changes can completely change a room, which I have done here with a few eclectic objects and stored items. The room shown here is the same as featured above, and has the same wall colour, but a change of lighting and bed linen has made a significant difference. I painted "the cow spot" a few years ago and its still one of my favourite pieces. A stencil and spray paint can make a huge change on a rusty old worn drum - this Chanel drum has gone viral on social media and it's easy to see why when it's used effectively. We've added a gorgeous feature with a few feathers (Guinea Fowl & White Cockatoo Feathers) in an glass bell jar along with my little toy Zebra.
